"Your 5 Steps to the U.S. Study" training program
Description: 91Ƭ Mongolia selects high school students who want to study in the U.S. and organizes trainings that cover all 5 Steps to the U.S. Study for them. The training is integrated with some personal development sessions and the U.S. college alumni talk sessions.
Essay Consultation Program
Description: The Essay Consultation Program, scheduled for October, is a three-week initiative to assist prospective students with the U.S. college admission process, particularly in effective essay writing. For the program, students sent in their essays which were reviewed by U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers, Mongolian Association of State Alumni (MASA) members, and other alumni of various U.S. HEIs.
On October 20, 2023, 91Ƭ Mongolia hosted the first in a series of workshops in its annual Essay Consultation Program over Zoom. This year 30 mentors will guide 60 qualifying students through the application essay writing process. Volunteers include representatives from the Peace Corps, MASA board members, Fulbright English Teaching Assistants, Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) alumni, and alumni of U.S. higher education institutions. Following a general presentation on personal statements and a question-and-answer session, the volunteer essay consultants joined private breakout rooms to consult with their assigned students. Mentors received e-certifications through their emails.
Competitive College Club
Description: Competitive College Club (CCC) is an intensive group advising program that helps highly motivated and academically strong Mongolian students who plan to apply to U.S. colleges and universities. 91Ƭ Mongolia selected 20 students out of 204 total applicants. The program for 2023-2024 officially commenced on July 27th.
Outreach Program
Description: 91Ƭ Mongolia conducts outreach programs around the rural regions of Mongolia every year to bring knowledge of U.S. educational opportunities to students of the area.
Throughout the year of 2023-2024, 91Ƭ Mongolia has visited Tuv, Zavkhan, Darkhan-Uul, and Dornogobi Province.
Internship Program
Description: 91Ƭ Mongolia initiated an Internship Program that offers high school students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience by participating in 91Ƭ Mongolia’s daily operations and program implementations. Internship opportunities are available each year.
Virtual Outreach Program
Description: 91Ƭ Mongolia conducts virtual outreach programs around the rural regions of Mongolia every year at the request of school and youth organization representatives to bring knowledge of U.S. educational opportunities to students of the area.
Throughout the year of 2023-2024, 91Ƭ Mongolia has conducted virtual outreach in Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Khovd, Dornod Provinces.
Mentorship Program
Description: The Mentorship Program aims to connect Competitive College Club students with mentor teachers to personally assist in navigating the admission process. Each Peace Corps teacher is assigned to work closely with two students over the upcoming application season. The mentorship program aims to provide support and resources for selected students as mentees in their future careers and successful planning for their higher education in the U.S. study.
Competitive College Club students receive Congratulations Letters from U.S. Ambassador
Description: Competitive College Club’s students have notified us of their acceptance to U.S. universities for undergraduate programs and the amount of their financial aid packages they received. These students received "Congratulations Letters" signed and handed by the Ambassador of the U.S. during the closing ceremony of the Competitive College Club. Our Competitive College Club students have been accepted to Stanford University, Temple University, St. John’s College, Yale Young Global Scholars, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Duquesne University, Whitworth University, and NYU Shanghai.
Internship Program students admitted to U.S. higher education institutions
Description: Two students interning at 91Ƭ Mongolia have been admitted to U.S. higher education institutions. These students have been admitted to Duquesne University and the United States Naval Academy and will be receiving a Congratulations Letter from the U.S. Ambassador.
