Opportunity Fund Program
Description: The Opportunity Fund Program (OFP) mentors selected academically outstanding and highly motivated, students in South Africa throughout the U.S. university application process. It is not a scholarship, but it does assist with the cost of application fees to U.S. universities, visa fees, travel to the U.S. and a small one-time settling in allowance. Approximately 20 students country-wide per year are selected to participate in this program. Admission and funding decisions are made by the U.S. universities to which students apply and are not guaranteed.
Deadline: Once per year but date varies
Eligibility Requirements: For Bachelor Degree Study: Currently in grade 12 or 1st year our of high school; 80% aggregate or higher; leadership.
For Masters or PhD Study: 1st Class/75% aggregate or better for 4 year Bachelors/Honours; financial need; relevant work/teaching/research.
