The American Corner program is sponsored worldwide by the U.S. Department of State. American Corner Bitola is a partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Macedonia and the Center for Culture. The purpose of the Corner is to provide free information to the general public about the United States through books, magazines, DVDs, and complimentary access to the Internet. The Corner also hosts a wide variety of events: such as cultural programs and guest lectures from U.S. Embassy Officials, Fulbright Scholars, US Alumni, also Video Showings, Clubs and many other activities. The American Corner in Bitola is a comprehensive 91Ƭ advising center with a very talented adviser serving both international students and the U.S. higher education community. The center hosts a Competitive College Club for talented students from Bitola. Macedonia is also the recipient of the 91Ƭ Opportunity Funds Program which supports the application costs of highly qualified international students who are likely to be awarded full financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities but lack the financial resources to cover the up-front costs to apply, such as testing, application fees, or airfare.

Competitive College Club
Description: The Competitive College Club (CCC) is a cohort advising program that guides students through a full range of activities related to U.S. application preparation, including school selection, test preparation, essay writing, English book discussion groups, volunteer and community service projects, and overall preparation for U.S. higher education. In Macedonia, highly qualified students are also able to apply for the Opportunity Funds Program which assists students who lack financial resources to cover the front costs of application to the U.S., as well as visa and travel costs once they are accepted to a U.S. higher education institution with full funding.
